August 29th: Hiroshima to Miharu

I posted previously that Hiroshima Airport was 'a couple of km' out of the city . Well today i found that 'a couple' means 40km away, which is still relatively 'near', by car that is. It's almost the same distance as Jurong to Changi Airport.

August 29th: Hiroshima -> Higashihiroshima -> Takehara -> Miharu

As per my regular morning routine, i was so comfortable on the futon bed that i thought of just paying for another night so i could sleep in. Somehow i forced myself up for the free breakfast provided with the stay, shoved my luggage in my bags and rode out of Hiroshima, the exit to Route 2 being a short 3-4km ride from where i was.

As always, nothing turns out as expected. I forgot to factor in the morning traffic in the streets and the insane number of traffic lights i got stuck in. By the time i reached Route 2, it was already 1 hour past when i left my hotel.

Thankfully, today's 75km ride was blessed with near perfect weather; light cool drizzle and 27 degrees weather all the way. Traffic was another story; lots of big trucks on the same roads today.

Tonight's rest stop is Hotel Todai (if i squint it looks like 'Hotel Toda') in Miharu which has free internet access! And i'm posting this as i'm waiting for my laundry to be done. Unfortunately the terminal doesn't allow for uploading of pictures.

Some facts and figures about my trip so far:
Days in Japan: 13
Average spent a day: $89.10
No of days spent cycling: 8
Distance covered: Straight line estimate=675km Actual=700+km probably

midway through posting yesterday i ran into this japanese cyclist in the hotel lobby and we went for dinner together. after hearing his story, i think he is even crazier than me.

he bought his bicycle 3 weeks ago and decided to ride from Kanegawa (Yokohama) which is about 800km away, to Fukuoka. he starts from 6am every morning to 6pm at night! crazy hours! and he has never onwned a bicycle before this!

its a very pleasant coincidence that we are staying in the same hotel and that he speaks simple English.

jo.. must see when got time to reply mah..

your facts are boring.

u shld include some interesting trivia like:
1) no. of days spent terrorizing japan: 13
2) no. of near-accidents caused: 10 per day
3) no. of pictures taken w pretty jap gers: 0!
4) area of sunburnt skin: 7361 cm^2

that way we might be able to entertain ourselves playing "Trivia Mania: the Gabriel Edition" between waiting for your next update and fantasizing about pretty japanese girls.

Japan look so well constructed. All the innovative buildings design, well maintained roads as well as clean parks.

Could you also post pic on those more rural areas, back alley, those residents home town or the inside of a typical japanese home would be great for a change. Staying over at someone house for the night would save on the cost of accommodation too :)

Now we just have to figured out how to pop the qns :P

ok that message was exactly 160 characters long, which is cool.

master spy level 8 (haven't you heard? crapping will earn him xp due to class affiliation) is acting himself all right.

i have not been playing gh2, much less fall of pangea. my guitar is still busted and i don't have any strong intention to repair it anytime soon. anyway fall of pangea is hard! maybe when i'm more free i will go try it on controller.

yes well asked, it links to my next point. probably the greatest significance (to me) would be that rock band is coming out on ps2. and both games have added shitloads of new songs. gh3 is the more ludicrous one, wanting to something like 'go global' and have musical representation of worldwide music. let's cite an example. "Hier Kommt Alex" - Die Toten Hosen; "Mauvais Garçon" - NAAST. Like wtf. That's from wiki btw. As of 28 Aug, there have been 45 songs confirmed. So imagine they just throw 5 songs into the bonus. You can publish a game liao.

and since rock band is coming for ps2, it's really a great incentive for me to get the rock band setup which includes one guitar, and be able to play all the gh iterations, including gh3 for ps2. so why get a ps3? i will see if i have enough money to go around maybe around my ord.

and of course rock band has a few more new songs in, totalling 27 so far. some notable ones include jet's are you gonna be my girl and ok go's here it goes again, which i hit up the music video and it's just very cool. suffice to say i will never look at stress ecgs the same ever again.
